Algorithm
The mathematical programming system search engines use to determine how and where your page is displayed in search results.
Click Thru
When a user on one site selects a link that takes him or her to another site, he/she "clicks" a mouse to go "through" to the new site.
Keyword Density
Ratio of the number of times a keyword/phrase appears on a page vs. the total number of words on that page. Some optimizers argue that there is an ideal ratio for ranking higher in the engines (with experts claiming the number is anywhere from 2% to 40%). Our opinion is that the correct density is what makes sense for a given page without "stuffing" that page purely for false gains in rankings.
Keyword Frequency
Not all that different from density, keyword frequency is simply the number of times a keyword appears on a page. Again, keywords and phrases should appear on your page more as often as is practical, but not to the extent that "stuffing" or redundancy occurs.
Keyword Proximity
Proximity refers to how close words appear to each other on a page. The more space between words, the less likely search engines are to assume those words are related on a given site. Thats why we suggest that, when possible, the phrases appear on your page exactly as your research shows that prospective customers/clients are typing them into a search query.
Keyword Stuffing
Unnaturally forcing large amounts of keywords and phrases into a site.
Keyword Prominence
The more importance you place on a word or phrase, the more a search engine will. If it appears in the page title, in the metatags, in headings, in body content, and in the anchor text in hyperlinks to the page, then search engines will rightfully assume that the phrase is important to your site.
SERP
The Search Engine Results Page displayed when a query is typed into a search engine.
